FAQ
[Frequently] Asked Questions
I know trail running!?
Call it running if you like. Adventure running, endurance running…for hours in the wilderness.
How is this different from BSR (Big Sunday Runs)?
WREC’kd is a (slightly) organised group. BSR is a state of mind.
What does becoming a financial member get me?
Access to the events, we think the subscription represents great value even if you can only make one fixture. There may be small fee for additional event related costs. (we might need to cover the sausages and beers at the finish line). We also supports trail work, conservation efforts and advocacy.
How do I enter the events?
Events are for subscribed members only. When you sign-up we’ll provide you a bib # for the year, the details for registration and fixture sign-up, and access to a snazzy portal.
Why the Inc.?
Chores and admin. WREC’kd hosts grassroots activities for its members. We collaborate with people and groups doing cool things!
As an organised group (and not for profit) we can get outside together without some of the traditional restrictions that typically apply with commercially organised events.
What events?
We exist to bring back the classic ‘Martini’ events, and for other recreation in the hills!
Check out our fixtures page.
But these look like races?
There is a start, a finish, and an elapsed time. It is also time on foot with others or solo.
What about rules?
Our participants are expected to know their limits in the backcountry. WREC’kd events can be a means to expand your skills when running the hills. Safety is a collective responsibility.
How are subs set?
Subs are set by the committee so our members can participate in our fixtures. We may only charge a reasonable recovery of costs for any events.
Love it! How can I help?
WREC’kd is not a registered charity. You can help by engaging in our pursuits, or support us by volunteering.
I’m a financial member, but can’t make an event?
Cool! Accessibility is a priority, and your contribution will help out others. It enables us to put on some sweet projects we all benefit from.
